Welke cleanroomklasse vraagt welke Bimos-stoel? Een gids per ISO-klasse en GMP-grade

Which cleanroom class needs which Bimos chair? A guide by ISO class and GMP grade

Posted by Silvester Cox on

The Bimos range covers cleanroom environments from ISO Class 3 to GMP Class C, with each line tested or specified to a precise class rather than a vague "cleanroom-suitable" label. Choosing a chair for a certified space means knowing exactly which class that space falls under, and which chair is actually built for it: here's the full breakdown.

ISO 14644-1 and GMP grades in brief

ISO 14644-1 classifies cleanrooms by the maximum number of particles allowed per cubic meter of air, from Class 1 (strictest) to Class 9. In pharma, people often think in EU GMP grades instead of ISO classes: Grade A and B correspond to roughly ISO 5, Grade C to ISO 7, and Grade D to ISO 8. Both scales appear below, exactly as they coexist in practice.

ISO Class 3: the strictest environments in the Bimos range, independently tested

Four lines are independently tested and certified to ISO Class 3 by Fraunhofer IPA: the Labsit (report IN 1609-845, seat F=1200N and backrest F=350N, both Class 3), the Cleanroom Basic, the cleanroom versions of the Zadelkruk (9473R/9F73R, report IN 2409-1551) and the Kruk/Cleanroom Stool line, and the Flex perch support. That's the class most semiconductor production floors and the strictest lab environments require, and every claim above is backed by an external test report, not a brand claim alone.

ISO Class 4: Cleanroom Texon

The Cleanroom Texon is Fraunhofer-tested to ISO Class 4, one step lighter than the Class 3 lines above, and is positioned as "number one in cleanroom and hightech" within the range. Texon and Cleanroom Texon are also specifically certified for biotech labs (safety classes S1/S2/S3 under the Biological Agents Regulation) and chemical/disinfectant-resistant per ISO 2812.

GMP Class C / ISO 7: Neon

The Neon, positioned as "the best work chair" for production, ESD, and labs, is specified for GMP Class C / ISO 7 environments, backed by dual ESD certification (DIN EN 61340-5-1 and ANSI/ESD S20.20-2021) that also makes it suitable for multinational semiconductor buyers requiring the US ESD standard.

Which class fits which application?

A useful rule of thumb: aseptic filling and other critical pharma processes typically call for ISO 5/GMP Grade A or B; semiconductor manufacturing and the strictest lab environments usually sit at ISO 3; general cleanroom labs and background areas around pharma processes often fall under ISO 4 to 7/GMP Grade C. If you're unsure of your space's exact class, that's the starting point for choosing the right chair, not the other way round.

Key facts at a glance

  • ISO Class 3, Fraunhofer-tested: Labsit, Cleanroom Basic, Zadelkruk cleanroom, Kruk/Cleanroom Stool line, Flex.
  • ISO Class 4, Fraunhofer-tested: Cleanroom Texon.
  • GMP Class C / ISO 7: Neon, with dual EU/US ESD certification.
  • GMP Grade A/B ≈ ISO 5, Grade C ≈ ISO 7, Grade D ≈ ISO 8.
  • Texon and Cleanroom Texon: additionally certified for biotech (S1/S2/S3) and disinfectant resistance (ISO 2812).

Why this matters for your decision

Choosing a chair based on your space's exact class, rather than a general "cleanroom" label, is the surest way to stay compliant and avoid questions during an audit. Not sure which class your space falls under or which line fits it? Get in touch and we'll work it out together.
